Data Documentation and Management Training in New Caledonia

Date:

11 July 2016 to 15 July 2016

PARIS21 and the Pacific Community (SPC) held a data documentation and data management training in Noumea, New Caledonia July 11-15. Seven countries attended the workshop including representatives from: Cook Islands, Vanuatu, Tonga, Palau, Solomon Islands, Tuvalu and the Northern Marina Islands. The objective of the workshop was to get countries to manage their own NADA based collections. This collection based architecture is ideal for the Pacific region and could be applicable in other island communities. See the site at: http://pdl.spc.int/index.php/catalog/central/about . In addition to a country based focus on ownership of their collection, a policy process was started with SPC to manage the documentation and review process with the islands. Follow up will be required by the World Bank to make the product more amenable to island use.
