Global Advocacy Materials

PARIS21's launches its Knowledge Series with a first issue on "How to Build Statistical Capacity":Your 10-minute guide to building capacity in data and statistics for the Sustainable Development Goals and beyond.

Despite progress over the last 15 years, statistical capacity in many developing countries still hovers at a low level. In this brief, we share insights from PARIS21 experts and partners on improving countries’ ability to collect, analyse and disseminate data at a time when demand for it could not be greater.

The booklet "Improving lives through better statistics" gives readers an overview of the different aspects of PARIS21 work. It is also available in French and Russian.
Better Statistics, Better Policies, Better Development OutcomesOne of PARIS21's central advocacy documents is "Measuring Up to the Measurement Problem: The Role of Statistics in Evidence-Based Policy-making", authored by Christopher Scott from the London School of Economics. Shorter pamphlets based on this paper are available in English and French as well as a leaflet entitled "Better statistics, Better policies, Better development outcomes" in ArabicEnglishFrenchSpanish, and Portuguese.
HMN & PARIS21 Working TogetherIn collaboration with the Health Metrics Network (HMN), PARIS21 has also produced a leaflet entitled "HMN & PARIS21 Working Together", which describes how the two institutions collaborate in supporting the development of national statistical systems.
