BUSAN ACTION PLAN FOR STATISTICS

Busan High Level Forum on Aid EffectivenessPARIS21 thanks all those who provided feedback on and supported an action plan that will drive statistical development over the coming years. In collaboration with the World Bank and other partners, PARIS21 proposed a "Busan Action Plan for Statistics" at the High-Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness (HLF-4), held from 29 November to 1 December 2011 in Busan, Korea. The Plan was presented at one of the HLF-4's official side events on 1 December 2011.

The final Busan Outcome Document (EN / FR) includes an explicit reference to the Action Plan in paragraph 18 c) as follows: "We will partner to implement a global Action Plan to enhance capacity for statistics to monitor progress, evaluate impact, ensure sound, results-focused public sector management, and highlight strategic issues for policy decisions."

The Busan Action Plan for Statistics is intended to update the priorities and work of the 2004 Marrakech Action Plan for Statistics, agreed at the Second International Roundtable on Managing for Development Results. The Busan Action Plan -- in its final form -- is posted to this site. [Download action plan here.]

This plan benefitted from the feedback of the PARIS21 Board and Executive Committee as well as statisticians and development experts participating in several international meetings over the months leading up to the HLF-4.

The Partnership is now drafting implementation arrangements for the Plan, which will be posted to the site in the coming months.
