The Health Metrics Network (HMN) is the first global partnership dedicated to strengthening national health information systems. Hosted by the World Health Organization, HMN has helped more than 80 countries improve their health information systems since 2005. The Network, comprised of global, regional and country partners, operates on the frontiers of HIS development. It has a ground-breaking role, capturing and screening the profusion of innovations in health information and helping countries establish information systems most suited to their needs.
Focus areas of the Network include tracking country progress in improving information systems for health and assessing the state of HIS work globally. The Network also advocates for universal birth, death and cause of death registration to support the monitoring of progress towards the Millennium Development Goals.
