PARIS21 and AITRS jointly organise workshop on SDG Preparation: Data Readiness and Developing a Monitoring Matrix in the Arab region

Introducing ADAPT (Advanced Data Planning Tool) to the National Statistics Offices in the Arab region, PARIS21 and the Arab Institute for Training and Research in Statistics (AITRS) organised a five day workshop on SDG Preparation: Data Readiness and Developing a Monitoring Matrix in the Arab region in Amman, Jordan 8- 12 May 2016. Sixteen Arab countries participated.

The workshop welcomed opening remarks from AITRS Director General, Dr. Abdelaziz MAALMI; President of AITRS Board of Trustees, Dr. Maral TUTELIAN GUIDANIAN; Director General of Jordan Department of Statistics, Dr. Qasem Alzoubi; and the Technical Programme Co-ordinator of PARIS21, Mr. Geoffrey Greenwell. In the subsequent sessions, an overview of the SDGs was presented by Mr. Dossina Yeo of UNSD and sector specific challenges in the region were addressed by Mr. Romesh Silva and Mr. Omar Hakouz of UN-ESCWA. Mr. Nader Keyrouz of UNDP also presented the Arab Development Portal and Mr. Geoffrey Greenwell presented ADAPT.
