The Fiji Bureau of Statistics in collaboration with PARIS21 and the Pacific Community organized the 2nd National Strategy for the Development of Statistics (NSDS) workshop to validate the initial results of the assessment of its national statistical system conducted in 2015. Sixty participants representing 19 government agencies in Fiji actively participated in the workshop to discuss the outcome of the assessment and recommend strategies to address weaknesses and challenges in statistics and to strengthen the statistical system to be SDG-ready.

Participants agreed on the indicative vision, mission, and strategic objectives of the NSDS, which will be elevated to the Macroeonomic Policy Committee for approval and adoption.
