PARIS21 collaborated with the Sudan Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) and undertook an ADAPT and PISTA workshop from 4-9 February, 2017. The objective of the workshop was to present CBS with new tools to aid in the NSDS process. The ADAPT was used to provide guidance in the process of preparing for the SDGs. The National Population Council is tasked with reporting on the SDGs and there was great interest in using the tool for this purpose. The workshop also highlighted the use of ADAPT for NSDS monitoring which was similarly well received.

The workshop also looked at innovative practices in statistics and included a panel presentation of key innovators in the country. One such innovator included UNDP's Big Data project which has gained much support from the central government. In addition, the workshop talked on new business models for managing statistical processes such as UNECE's GAMSO and GSBPM. The workshop was attended by 35 people from 10 ministries and agencies.
