UNSC Side event: Data, AI and the SDGs: How can AI help us achieve and monitor progress?

AI has been a source for data innovation in the past decades. The recent development of GenAI has renewed attention to the potential of AI to revolutionise the way we work, we live as societies, and the ways we advance towards sustainable development. When it comes to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), AI can help countries track progress and make informed decisions on how to best reach the 169 targets. Yet, the deployment of AI technologies comes with its own set of challenges. This meeting will bring together national statistical offices and multilateral development agencies to showcase solutions for the use of AI in tracking and monitoring progress towards the SDGs, and ultimately accelerate action towards 2030.
