The availability and accessibility of gender statistics can only contribute to truly promoting gender equality if these data are used in the design and monitoring of public policies. In order to identify barriers, enablers, good practices and solutions for the adoption of gender data in policy making, ONE conducted a study with PARIS21 on the use of gender data in public policy making. The qualitative study consisted of desk research, a multi-stakeholder workshop in which the research approach was presented and initial inputs to the study were collected, and 35 key informant interviews with actors involved in policy-policy making processes and key producers of official gender data.
As PARIS21 and ONE prepare to launch the Gender Data Use Case Study, ONE has also produced infographics and materials to highlight efforts in the country to tackle gender-sensitive issues - including adolescent pregnancies and improving internet access among female-headed households.
