How can stronger collaboration between national statistical offices and parliaments improve the use of evidence in policymaking?
As countries continue to invest in stronger statistical systems, the discussions reinforced a shared message: data creates value when it informs decisions. Strengthening the links between those who produce evidence and those who use it is essential for turning data into better policies and better outcomes for citizens.
This question was at the centre of the African Regional Forum on Statistical Use in Parliament, convened by PARIS21 at the Parliament of Kenya alongside the Global Data Festival in Nairobi.
Participants explored practical mechanisms for collaboration between parliaments and NSOs, discussed how capacity development can help bridge the gap between data production and policy use, and examined the opportunities and challenges presented by emerging technologies, including AI.
