Staff from Yemen’s Central Statistical Organization (CSO) took part in a three-day workshop from 1-3 September 2026 on data visualisation, statistical communication and the responsible use of AI.
The training, organised by OECD and PARIS21 with Yemen’s CSO, focused on a concrete challenge: how to make monthly Consumer Price Index data easier to produce, interpret and communicate in a low-resource environment.
Participants worked directly with Yemen’s June 2026 CPI data, developing cleaner charts and visualisations, testing mapping tools and exploring ways to streamline parts of the reporting process. Participants also examined where AI can assist statistical workflows —and where data protection, verification and human judgement remain essential.
The workshop was facilitated by Dr. Alissar Nasser, CPI Team Lead at Lebanon’s Central Administration of Statistics (CAS) while regional expertise was provided by Dr. Ziad Abdallah, Director General of Arab Institute for Training and Research in Statistics (AITRS), and Lamia Zribi, former Minister of Finance of Tunisia and consultant on national accounts, who attended as expert observers.
