Leadership training for Directors General of NSOs
PARIS21's leadership training aims to improve and strengthen the leadership, management, governance, and co-ordination capabilities of leaders within statistical offices. The workshops provide a forum to discuss operational matters, to share experiences, to network and to elaborate on personal-development action plans.
Specific objectives include:
- Prepare participants to lead change and engage multiple players in the statistical system
- Strengthen leaders’ ability to develop and maintain a winning organisation culture
- Build leaders’ capacity to resolve conflicts
- Sharpen leaders’ ability to diagnose the need and their readiness for change in statistical systems
- Guide leaders in strategic thinking and innovation
- Help leaders to achieve better results with and through others
Addressing specific challenges
Recognising that different contexts bring different sets of challenges, PARIS21 has developed with the Center for Creative Leadership, targeted trainings such as women in leadership, regional approaches as well as training for leaders in a post-COVID-19 context. In 2022, PARIS21 organised the first training seminar for Women in Leadership in the Latin America and Caribbean region, which led to the creation of the first Community of Practice on women in statistical leadership in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Focus on results
Each individual has his/her own leadership style. PARIS21 believes that nurturing and developing these styles and skills with a keen understanding and awareness of the challenges surrounding them will significantly improve the positive self-engagement, collaboration, and contribution to the field that leaders are engaged in.
Promoting peer learning
PARIS21 leadership trainings provide an opportunity for heads of NSOs to meet with their peers from around the region and discuss challenges and opportunities they face. PARIS21 provides an ideal platform for bringing together a diverse group of leaders who share the same goals.
