Partner Report on Support to Statistics (PRESS)
PRESS, published annually by PARIS21, is the most comprehensive annual analysis of international support to data and statistics, identifying trends, needs and opportunities to scale up financing. Over the past years, the PRESS has positioned itself as a valuable resource for donors, partner countries and key stakeholders in the data community, enabling the monitoring of funding to data and statistics, informing donor strategies and investments, and supporting high-level advocacy for more and better financing.
PRESS uses a multi-faceted approach to shape the narrative on the evolution of data and statistics financing. The report employs novel quantitative techniques to analyse over 300,000 projects in development aid each year for estimating trends related to funding data and statistics from bilateral multilateral and philanthropic aid providers. These results are complemented by qualitative insights gathered from a range of expert interviews. By providing a full picture of international support to data and statistics, PRESS underscores financing gaps, challenges and opportunities for data and statistics and addresses thematic areas such as gender and climate data.
in 2020. Amidst a worsening picture for global development and a rise in complex global threats, the report calls on leaders to reaffirm their commitments to data and statistics as a core component of effective and impactful policy making.
