How the SDGs Increased Data Production and What This Means for Policy Making
This paper examines the evolution of data and statistics since the inception of the Sustainable Development Goals, looking at how the Millennium Development Goals first put the spotlight on the unequal representation of the global population in data, and subsequently the Sustainable Development Goals made improving the quantity, quality and scope of data an urgent priority. The paper then explores the impact of these global development agendas on the production of data and statistics and identifies areas to accelerate progress.
