Statistical laws and data governance
Fit for purpose legal and regulatory frameworks are essential to promote an effective functioning national statistical system (NSS), empower national statistical offices (NSOs) to steward the data ecosystem, and ensure the delivery of quality data for informed policymaking. Yet, several NSSs continue to operate under outdated legislations, particularly in least developed countries. PARIS21 supports the modernisation and development of stronger statistical laws and frameworks to enable the production of better data in low- and middle-income countries.
